Performance Management
Performance management is a process by which managers and employees work together to plan, monitor and review an employee’s work objectives and overall contribution to the organization. It is the continuous process of setting objectives, assessing progress and providing ongoing coaching and feedback to ensure that employees are meeting their objectives. Job descriptions and essential functions statements are critical tools in the process. A well-crafted job description not only helps an employer to identify prospective employees that will be best qualified for the position, it also sets up the expectations for the employee so that no confusion exists as to the employee’s responsibilities and performance goals are clearly established.
